Women’s Winter Invitational Draws Top Teams from Around the World
San Diego Yacht Club’s annual Women’s Winter Invitational Regatta returns this upcoming winter, February 16-18, 2024. Winners of US Sailing’s One Design Regatta Award, this all-woman, three-day competition attracts sailors from all over the world.
The Women’s Winter Invitational is sailed at SDYC directly off the docks in La Playa and in the Club’s J/22s, which are sponsored by Mount Gay. The course can expect more than 80 sailors in 24 teams for an action-packed regatta weekend on and off the water.
The Women’s Winter Invitational is one of the first established yacht club challenges for women in the country, with a goal to encourage participation in the sport while providing a unique Southern California sailing experience. Sailors and spectators alike experience the unmatched atmosphere of San Diego in February.
The weekend starts with a welcome reception on Friday, February 16. A casual celebration invites sailors to join in on camaraderie and get to know each other. Following the first day of racing on Saturday, February 17, competitors are invited to enjoy a regatta dinner at the Club. To conclude the weekend, the Awards Ceremony will be held post-racing on Sunday, February 18.
Spectators, press, and invited guests are welcomed dockside at SDYC, aboard your own boat, or for the general public along Point Loma’s Bessemer Path, just boat lengths from the course.
