The second event of the Barcelona Foiling Winter Series 2024-2025, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona in collaboration with Renting Ribs and Waszp Esp, successfully concluded December 15, with Pablo Astiazarán winning the men’s category and Sweden’s Liv Häggström winning the women’s category, both of whom demonstrated excellent competitive skills throughout the eight races.
This event drew sailors from six countries, further consolidating the Barcelona Foiling Winter Series as an international benchmark in the world of foil sailing. Exceptional weather conditions, featuring the renowned offshore wind with average speeds of 14 knots, allowed participants to showcase their full technical skills and abilities, delivering a top-tier spectacle.
This second event was part of the Festa de la Vela organized by the RCNB, closing a historic year for the institution due to the volume and quality of events hosted in 2024.
Pere Sarquella, Sports Director of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, highlighted the ongoing success of these competitions: “The Barcelona Foiling Winter Series, organized since the 2022-2023 season, are key to positioning Barcelona as a leading destination for foil sailing. With the legacy of the America’s Cup, it is essential to work towards ensuring the continuity of the development and international projection of our city in the sailing world.”
The 3rd and 4th events of the Barcelona Foiling Winter Series will take place in February of 2025, further promoting Barcelona as a global leader in foil sailing.
