Mark Napier Takes the Helm as Commodore of the Royal Malta Yacht Club

The Royal Malta Yacht Club has announced the appointment of Mark Napier as its new Commodore, following David Cremona’s decision to step down from the role. Napier, who had secured the second-highest number of votes in last year’s election behind Cremona, was voted in by the Executive Committee after this week’s Annual General Meeting. David Cremona will continue to serve on the Club’s leadership team as the newly appointed Vice Commodore, while Amata Camilleri has been named Honorary Secretary. The AGM also saw the election of two new committee members, Aaron Gatt Floridia and Simon Xuereb.
Structure of the Royal Malta Yacht Club Committee
The Commodore is elected for a three-year term by the Committee from among its members. Following a change in statue during the 2024 Annual General Meeting, it was established that the top three elected members will serve for three years, the next three for two years, and the lowest three for one year.
The Royal Malta Yacht Club expressed its gratitude to David Cremona for his sterling work during his tenure as Commodore as well as outgoing Committee members James Villette and Edgar Warrington for their valuable contributions.
