Long Beach Yacht Club Celebrates the Season with Sailing, Singing and Santa!

Long Beach Yacht Club (LBYC) kicked off a busy holiday season with the annual Kid’s Christmas Party! Santa Claus, accompanied by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, visited the Club and the more than 500 attendees for photo opportunities with the children and their families. A fantastic buffet and holiday activities made the event extra festive.

The Club participated in the Second Street Christmas Parade with a float inspired by the Polar Express that was decorated by the LBYC kids. 15 kids rode on the float with some from the LBYC team, waving and spreading holiday cheer throughout the streets. A QR code on the front of the float allowed spectators to scan it and view a video showcasing the year’s highlights of the LBYC Jr. Sailing program.

Later in the month, LBYC celebrates the season with the annual Carolling in the Canals, during which LBYC families meet at the Club and then head out to carol around the canals of Naples Island. It is a fantastic and beloved tradition that Members do not want to miss!

Long Beach Yacht Club’s last regatta of 2022 was the annual Christmas Fun Run which was held on Saturday, December 3. Light winds and sunny skies set the scene for this casual fleet race in Alamitos Bay which featured Cal 20 and Club Soling classes. Inflatable wreaths and candy canes served as marks of the course, and podium finishers each received a custom ornament for their Christmas tree. Congratulations to Cal 20 class winners Mike Corzine and Randy Smith, and Club Soling winners Mike Tande, Taryn Tande, and Justin Palm.

Throughout December LBYC holds countless holiday club events, private Christmas parties, and extra special Holiday dinners that really make Long Beach Yacht Club second to the North Pole as the merriest place on earth!
