Anchored in Community: LBYC Volunteers at Farm Lot 59

The ladies of Long Beach Yacht Club (LBYC) are taking their passion for community service to new heights, bringing their energy and dedication to the heart of Long Beach’s local food movement. Recently, a group of LBYC members rolled up their sleeves and headed to Farm Lot 59, a nonprofit urban farm dedicated to sustainable agriculture, education and community empowerment.
Farm Lot 59, located in the city’s historical 1.5-acre plot, is known for growing organic produce and fostering environmental stewardship. The nonprofit has long been a beacon of local sustainability, offering fresh produce to underserved communities and promoting green practices. And this past month, the LBYC ladies celebrated their monthly Ladies Day by giving back to our local community.
Led by LBYC Commodore Lisa Meier, the volunteers helped with a variety of tasks, from planting crops to maintaining garden beds. Their collective efforts not only boosted the farm’s operations but also strengthened the bond between the Yacht Club and the wider Long Beach community.
