Moderator Leif Sigmond led the speakers and group in a session on key governance topics, including governance structure, nominating processes, elections and bylaw amendments. The discussion of structure revealed that, while similarities echo among the clubs, there are many big differences. All clubs had a Commodore and Vice Commodore, but the leadership structure under that varied. The selection, structure and workings of various nominating committees were discussed, and it was observed that the clubs varied greatly in their approaches. The same was true for bylaw amendments—most clubs required a member vote, but others vested their Boards with the power to change bylaws. Overall, there was an interesting discussion about the similarities and differences among the clubs with great takeaways.
